From University to High Fashion

My Design Featured in Schön Magazine

In the fast-paced world of fashion, opportunities can arise when you least expect them. As a young designer still finding my footing in the industry, I was thrilled to have one of my pieces featured in a stunning photoshoot for Schön Magazine. This experience not only validated my creative vision but also placed my sustainable designs alongside established brands in a prestigious publication.

Schön Magazine: A Platform for Innovation

Schön Magazine, a renowned German fashion and lifestyle publication, has built a reputation for showcasing both established and emerging talents in the industry. Known for its avant-garde editorials and commitment to featuring diverse voices in fashion, Schön! provides a platform where creativity and innovation shine.

A Star-Studded Collaboration

The photoshoot was nothing short of a dream team collaboration:

Model: Rex Adams, a multifaceted talent known for her work as a model, DJ, and actress (you might have caught her brief appearance in the recent “Dune” film!). Rex’s unique style and creative energy perfectly complemented the eclectic mix of designs in the shoot.

Photographer: Patrick Walter, whose keen eye for composition and lighting brought each look to life, capturing the essence of both the garments and Rex’s dynamic presence.

Stylist: Haliunaa K. Orkohn, whose expertise in blending established brands with emerging designers created a series of captivating and unexpected looks.

Make-up Artist: Pacquo Winter, whose artistry added the perfect finishing touch to each ensemble.

Bridging the Gap: Newcomers and Established Brands

What made this shoot particularly special was the deliberate mix of well-known fashion houses and up-and-coming designers. This juxtaposition not only created visually interesting contrasts but also highlighted the magazine’s commitment to fostering new talent alongside industry giants.

As one of the featured newcomer designers, I was honoured to see my work styled and photographed in this context. The piece chosen was from my “Fiktion” collection, a line that embodies my commitment to sustainable fashion and innovative design.

A Moment of Recognition

Being included in this shoot was more than just exposure; it was a moment of recognition. As a university student at the time, seeing my design worn by Rex Adams and captured through Patrick Walter’s lens was surreal. It was a tangible reminder that sustainable fashion can stand proudly alongside traditional luxury brands, appealing to a diverse and style-conscious audience.

It was an indescribable feeling to see one of my designs in a prestigious magazine for the first time, knowing it had been lent out for this special shoot.

The Power of Collaboration

This experience reinforced my belief in the power of collaboration in the fashion industry. The synergy between model, photographer, stylist, make-up artist, and designers – both established and emerging – created something truly special. It showed that fashion is not just about individual pieces, but about how they come together to tell a story and evoke emotion.

Looking Forward

As I continue to grow as a designer, experiences like this photoshoot for Schön! Magazine serve as both motivation and validation. They remind me that there’s room in the fashion world for new voices, sustainable practices, and innovative ideas.

To all my fellow emerging designers: keep creating, keep pushing boundaries, and keep believing in your vision. You never know when your designs might end up in the pages of a prestigious magazine, worn by a model, and captured by a great photographer.

And to Rex Adams, Patrick Walter, Haliunaa K. Orkohn, Pacquo Winter, and the team at Schön Magazine – thank you for this incredible opportunity and for your support of new talent in the industry.
