A Vision Comes to Life
There are moments in a designer’s journey that feel surreal, where your vision materializes before your eyes. The photoshoot and film production for my “High Expectations” collection was precisely one of those moments. As I watched the talented team bring my concepts to life, I couldn’t help but think, “Is this really happening?”
The Inspiration: Expectations, Limitations, and Freedom
This project holds a special place in my heart. It’s a deeply personal exploration of the high expectations I hold for myself and those around me. Through this collection, I wanted to convey how these expectations can tie us down and limit our potential. But more importantly, it’s about the journey of facing these expectations, letting them go, and ultimately finding freedom.
From Dawn to Liberation: The Shooting Concept
To visually represent this journey, we chose a powerful setting: Tempelhofer Feld at dawn. The shoot begins in darkness, symbolizing the constricting nature of high expectations. As we progress, the rising sun represents the gradual process of letting go, with each frame becoming brighter. This transition from darkness to light mirrors the emotional journey from feeling limited to experiencing freedom.
A key element in the visual narrative is the mirror. It stands as a powerful symbol of self-realization, reflecting the moment when we truly see ourselves and our expectations for what they are.
A Collaborative Effort
The day of the shoot was a whirlwind of creativity and teamwork. We simultaneously captured the photo series and filmed the fashion video, which was only possible thanks to our incredible team. To optimize our time, we worked in parallel: while one model was posing for the photo shoot, the other was involved in the video recording. This efficient division allowed us to advance both productions simultaneously. The seamless collaboration between all involved was truly remarkable.
I’m especially grateful for our talented models Lilo Gruner and Tabea Stark, the brilliant photographer and retoucher Maren Nordtorp Larsen, and the videographer Ari Puntin. Their artistry and vision were crucial in bringing this project to life.
The Fashion Film: A Deeper Dive
In the fashion film, I had the opportunity to embody my vision more explicitly. Working with shards and mirrors, we created powerful imagery that delves deeper into the themes of expectation, disappointment, scars, wounds, and ultimate liberation. This visual metaphor allows viewers to connect with the emotional core of the collection on a visceral level.
A Dream Realized
Seeing the photo series from my “High Expectations” collection featured in a renowned fashion magazine (Bloom & Seline) was a moment of pure joy.

It’s a testament to the hard work and creativity of everyone involved, from the models to the photographer. This success underscores the importance of teamwork and mutual inspiration in the fashion world.
As I reflect on this experience, I’m filled with gratitude. This project has been a journey of personal and professional growth, allowing me to express complex emotions through fashion. It’s a reminder that our expectations, while sometimes limiting, can also drive us to create something truly meaningful.
To everyone who has been part of this journey – thank you. And to those who resonate with the message of “High Expectations” – I hope this collection inspires you to reflect, let go, and find your own path to freedom.
